October 2013

5 - 12 October
Bugiallo, Lake Como, Italy
A week of Italian music for singers and players of early viols
Performers Tutors: Tutor: Oliver Hirsh
Organised by Music-Newborn, Denmark email
Description: The wonderful music of cinquecento (C16) Italy is the focus of this course. Participants gain first-hand experience with various polyphonic forms, usually in their original notation. Most participants play renaissance viols (there are one or two that can be borrowed)and/or can sing but lutes, recorders and harps are also very welcome.
Though pratice together is fairly intensive there will also be opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding countryside. We aim to conclude the week with a concert, in the Monastery in Dongo, during the evening of Friday 12th October.
Accomodation, with basic amenities, is available in the parish house but the village inn \"Tamola\" can offer a little more comfort.
Maximum 10 participants. Deadline for application: September 5th 2013. This week is for those who enjoy playing and singing from facsimile (original) notation but also for those who would like to try. A good level of sight reading is required. Further details can be sent on request.
